Blogtember Challenge Day 27: Laughing and Crying

Today’s challenge is to discuss something that has made you laugh or cry recently. Let’s be honest though girls cry all the time (haha), but also we love laughing with our best friends. I do cry probably once a week not because I’m sad, but for happiness, something comes on the TV, or something on the radio. I’ve noticed the older I get the more emotional I am. I hope I’m not the only one that feels this way :)

I don’t know about you, but it seems like there are a ton of new shows coming out this fall. YAY! I love watching new shows and these seem to be better than normal. Ryan and I decided to start watching “This Is Us.” Oh my goodness this made me cry like a baby and even laugh so hard I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t really think this would hit both of us like it did. I would say this is a good show to watch together. Sometimes life surprises you which is something that this show has already planted in their viewers minds. If you haven’t watched this I would advise you to do so.

                                                             IT’S YOUR TURN NOW…
WHAT HAS MADE YOU LAUGH OR CRY (BOTH) RECENTLY??

Blogtember Challenge Day 23: Peanut Brittle

Growing up, my mom’s peanut brittle was ALWAYS a “crowd pleaser” – during the Christmas Holidays. Family, family friends, my dad’s customers, neighbors, or anyone who knows about her peanut brittle will be fighting over it. Everyone starts bringing over metal containers starting in October to get their name on the list first! It’s actually very hysterical :)

This peanut brittle isn’t the kind you can buy at Cracker Barrel, it’s made with love every time. My sweet mother works days upon days getting everyone’s order in. My great grandmother handed it down to my grandmother then on a special day that is close to our hearts my mom received the recipe. I can’t wait until it’s passed down to me. I hope you all enjoy this as much as we do as a family!

Ingredients:

1 cup raw peanuts

1 cup sugar

½ cup corn syrup

¼ tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

Directions:

In a microwavable bowl add 1 cup of raw peanuts, ½ cup of corn syrup, and 1 cup of sugar. Stir and cook for 2 more minutes. Add ¼ of salt and 1 tsp of baking soda. Stir and pour onto a sheet of greased foul. Let it cook for 30 minutes then break apart.

Let me know if you make this… I would love to know what you think about this compared to the store brands of peanut brittle.

Blogtember Challenge Day 21: Crazy for Cake?

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! I remember doing those chants as a kid before we could get our ice cream at vacation bible school :)

I LOVE ice cream, frozen yogurt, and custard! Anything with that sort of substance is calling my name. I remember as a kid making homemade ice cream with my mom while our family sat by the pool just drooling waiting for it finish churning. A sad moment hit my life when I was told by my GI doctor that I was lactose intolerant. But don’t worry I survived, I found an ice cream that is lactose free. Not only is it lactose free it doesn’t have all the fat and calories plus it is low glycemic, gluten free, and GMO free. This amazing guilt pleasure is called Arctic Zero. It helps me anytime I have a sweet tooth craving.

Today’s prompt for the Blogtember Challenge is if you were a flavor of ice cream, which flavor would you be? Why?

If I were an Arctic Zero flavor, I would be Cake Batter. I chose this flavor for several reasons:

-It reminds me of licking the spoon when I cooked cakes with my mom.

-It is without all the fat and calories (like I said above).

-For the entire pint its only 150 calories.

-It’s an amazing treat after a day of sweating.

-I can enjoy the ice cream without having any guilt.

You have to try this brand of ice cream if you haven’t!

Now it’s your turn…

WHICH ICE CREAM FLAVOR WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?

Blogtember Challenge Day 20: To Believe or Not to Believe

There are so many different things that people don’t know about their friends, family, people they work, etc… Today’s prompt is to share what we wish more people knew or believed. I believe that there are so many words in the world that make people think differently or even believe differently about things. There are competing voices and opinions, people who contradict everything you “think” you know or believe, or articles you read that will break you down from time and time again. Then when you are old enough to have your own opinion people around you start to give you their own opinions about your life choices. People today seem like they should always give advice even when you aren’t asking for it and always judge every move you make.  We have to remember to not listen to any of that. We must believe in ourselves, believe in one another, and the most important is to believe in Jesus.

I really wish that people would take the time to believe and to really know who Jesus is. There will be days that you don’t feel like you are enough and others when you feel like you could conquer the world. You might think I’m too fat, too skinny, too proud, too smart, too fit, too stylish… Remember especially on those hard challenge days when you hear something or are criticizing yourself that you were created for a reason. You weren’t that “accident” that kids might say you are. You as a creation from Jesus are here for a purpose. All of those imperfections that you point out were knitted together by God. He picked every inch of whom are today. Try not to judge yourself too much because you were created in HIS IMAGE alone!

You are God's treasure no matter what people think or say. Remember that Jesus helped you through all of those tangles and challenges in your life that you went through. He picked you out of the big treasure box to not only help you but to help Him. It was worth everything to him because He got to see you big smile at the end of the day. He got to witness all of those bumps in the road. He witnessed every single step you’ve taken or took to be that beautiful gem He picked out the treasure box.

God will always guide you, He will speak to you, and He will ALWAYS love you. He will help you no matter what and will make sure to put you on that everlasting path to heaven. Pour everything onto Jesus himself as he will pour out His loving grace on you!

“Nevertheless I am continually with you; you have taken hold of my right hand. With your counsel! You will guide me, and afterward receive me to glory.” Psalms 73:23-24

Blogtember Challenge 18 & 19- Simplifying & Flash Back

This weekend was full of hanging out with friends and celebrating a beautiful friend of mine’s couple’s shower! We were busy from Friday to Sunday which is why I missed the post yesterday. Like I said at the beginning of this challenge if I miss any I will do my best to make them up :)

For yesterday’s prompt I’m sharing something that simplifies my life by not having to worry what is coming up next or what we have planned in the next couple of months. The number one thing in my life that helps me simplify my life is my Erin Condren planner

I will tell you that the older we get (which I know I’m not old) we all start forgetting things. Let’s be honest here I already forget things – haha! I will never forget when Ryan asked what I wanted for Christmas and I had told him about this amazing planner. He was a little questionable about “thinking” about buying it because he thought it was expensive. He didn’t realize a couple of things…  the front and back are reusable, each year the only thing you have to purchase is the middle section, how much I would really use it, and how much it has not only simplified my life but his as well.

I’ve always been a very organized person, but before I knew about the Erin Condren planner I would just use sticky notes ALL THE TIME! They would be everywhere… all throughout the house, at my desk, in purse, at the house etc. This planner has helped me stay more organized than I ever thought.
I love getting to write everything down because it not only reminds me that we have something coming up, but it helps with things that are planned months in advance such as wedding festivities, birthdays, or traveling to see friends.

I’ve wrote more about these planners in this post, so I won’t keep rambling on and on. There it is friends the one thing that not only simplifies my life, but helps keep everything in everyone’s lives around me not hectic! If you are thinking of buying one please don't hesitate because of the price it is worth every penny. Remember Christmas is right around the corner!

Today’s challenge is to share a list of your favorite posts you’ve written. It’s like a lot of TV shows where the writers take a montage of episodes to make a “remembering the past” episode of things that happened. I remember back when I use to go to my grandmother's after school and watch my favorite TV shows. They would always have these “remember the past” episodes which made me so upset! I mean I’m a kid and I don’t care about old parts of episodes I want to watch something new.

Don’t worry this challenge is about that kind of “past” it’s a time to show new readers things that might’ve missed, maybe prayers were answered that you’d written about, or to show you how much you developed as a blogger. I know I’ve had to readers/followers see my blog just by this challenge which I’m so grateful for, I’ve written post about things I’ve prayed for, and I know I’ve grown as a blogger on getting better with my postings. Well here you go… welcome to the past of Fit for Style:

Blogtember Challenge Day 16: No More Stress

I can put this lightly, I get stressed way too much. Between craziness at work, Junior Woman’s Club projects, my personal life, family, and owning a house my stress levels are always up and down. I hear it from all ends of my life that I need to slow down. If you’ve read my goals for this month you will see that I’m working on telling people no. Not in a mean way at all, but just telling people no because I have other things going on.

I can tell you that I’m TERRIBLE at self-care. When I do things for myself I feel like there is something else better to be done. I decided to take my self-care into different terms. Here are some ways that help me de-stress/take care of myself:

Read a book- it’s no surprise that I love reading. Cuddling up on the couch with a good book or something to read on my phone seems to take my mind to a different place. There truly is nothing more relaxing.

Working out- running outside, going to Pure Barre, or just going to the gym always helps clear my head. Running outside makes me feel like I am in the presence of God. I love Pure Barre because I always leave feeling refreshed and renewed. Going to the gym (24 Hour Fitness) is just a different environment. I put my headphones in and go on my way! I would say working out is my number one de-stressor!

Praying- Especially during stress, praying and reading through the bible is so helpful. I would say that Psalms is the number one area I read the most when feeling stress, because most of them are in states of distress. It’s nice to give everything to God through those words.“Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight” Psalms 119:143.

Binge watching TV shows- sometimes your brain is done working, so watching mindless TV is the only thing that will work.

Getting my nails/toes done- I love having girl time! This is a time for a close friend of mine to catch up while getting someone to massage our hands and feet. I would say this is a ‘treat” for myself.

HOW DO YOU DE-STRESS/TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF?
